    ARTISAN STONE "flintstone studio"

Aurora opal plume agate refers to a unique material created by layering natural plume agate over a backing that produces an "aurora" iridescent effect. The aurora effect is typically achieved using a synthetic aurora opal or a specialized, colored resin backing.

This composite material is known as a doublet (or sometimes triplet, if a clear top layer is also used) and combines the natural, delicate, feather-like inclusions of the agate with the man-made, shimmering colors reminiscent of the Northern Lights.

Ethiopian opals are known for their vibrant color play, often with a unique "honeycomb" pattern, but are hydrophane, meaning they absorb water, which can temporarily change their transparency, color, and even cause cracking, requiring careful handling away from moisture. They form in volcanic ash, have a hardness of 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale (making them soft), and are associated metaphysically with creativity, emotional balance, intuition, and protection.
